quick pasta e fagioli soup. It is loaded with mac and beans, neither of which are mushy. The beans are creamy and tasty and the pasta is the short, tubular ditalini. It does need some help, I think, so I usually add some of the following: frozen corn and or peas, one half small can of tomato sauce (preferably Muir Glen or Del Monte), one TBSP Chili Powder (preferably
Spice Hunter brand) and one tsp. ground cumin. Just before serving, add grated Parmesan cheese to taste and a tsp. of EVOO

    My favorite tomato soup – non-acidic, December 27, 2012
This is my number one tomato soup for lunch. I love the taste of the Basil in the soup, and as a purist, I never add milk or cream! I have always had a bad reaction of heartburn after eating tomato soup, but I have never had a problem after this terrific lunch time treat. Give it a try; the basil is incredible. Also, I know it’s hard to believe, but if you are looking for fiber, see the Progresso High Fiber Soup, Creamy Tomato Basil, 19-Ounce Cans (Pack of 12).

    Verified Purchase(What’s this?)
Ok, I had to limit this to my all-time favorite “canned” soup just in case my wife reads this review. But in reality it just about my favorite. Drop me off in a mountain cabin with a typewriter and case of Progresso Lentil Soup and when you pick me up a month later I’ll still have the typewriter!
